Macon is a city located in the central section of the state of Georgia. The city is located in, and is the county seat of Bibb County. Macon is sometimes referred to as the "Heart of Georgia" because of it's central location. As of 2008, the estimated population of Macon was 92,775. The Metropolitan area of Macon is estimated to be 230,777. Before Macon was established it was the site of Fort Benjamin Hawkins.
